Frances Griffey, LMT

Frances Griffey is a licensed massage therapist who has been practicing since 2019. Her work combines deep tissue massage, relaxation massage, Swedish massage, cupping, and focused treatment for neck, shoulder, upper back, and low back tension.

A graduate of the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School, Frances takes an individualized approach to each session, adjusting pressure, techniques, and areas of focus according to the client’s needs and feedback.

Frances’s Approach to Massage

Frances believes therapeutic massage does not have to feel clinical or overly intense to be effective.

Her sessions often combine the calming, flowing qualities of Swedish and relaxation massage with more focused therapeutic techniques for areas of muscular tension and discomfort.

She typically begins sessions gradually, allowing the tissues to warm before becoming more specific with deeper or more targeted work. This approach can be especially well suited to clients who want meaningful therapeutic attention while still enjoying the restorative qualities of massage.

Neck, Shoulder & Back Tension

Frances particularly enjoys working with the neck, shoulders, upper back, and low back.

These areas commonly hold tension related to posture, repetitive activity, physical stress, and day-to-day demands. Frances adapts her work based on the client’s presentation rather than applying the same routine to every person.

Her goal is to address muscular tension and discomfort while helping the overall session remain comfortable and relaxing.

Deep Tissue & Therapeutic Massage

Deep tissue massage is another important part of Frances’s work.

Rather than relying on pressure alone, she uses focused techniques where appropriate and adjusts the intensity according to the client’s comfort and treatment goals.

Clients who prefer a massage that can move between relaxation and more specific therapeutic work may find Frances’s style particularly well suited to them.

Cupping Therapy

Frances may also incorporate cupping therapy into massage sessions when appropriate.

Depending on the client’s needs, she may use both stationary and moving cupping techniques alongside hands-on massage.

Cupping can be incorporated as one part of a broader therapeutic session rather than being treated as a completely separate style of massage.

Holistic Health & Chinese Medicine

Frances has a strong interest in holistic health and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Classical Chinese Medicine with a specialization in Chinese herbal medicine.

Her continuing education reflects a broader interest in how different approaches to health and wellness can support the individual as a whole.

What to Expect

Clients working with Frances can expect a thoughtful, adaptable massage that balances relaxation with focused therapeutic attention.

Her sessions may include Swedish massage, deep tissue techniques, targeted work for areas of tension, and cupping depending on the client’s goals and preferences.

She is particularly well suited to clients who want help with neck and shoulder tension, upper or lower back discomfort, muscular stress, or general relaxation, especially those who prefer a massage that remains calming while still addressing specific areas.

Outside the Clinic

Outside of massage therapy and her Chinese medicine studies, Frances enjoys paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, gardening, ceramics, cooking and baking, mushroom foraging, yoga, meditation, travel, and herbalism.

She also enjoys reading, art, games, and the occasional Renaissance fair.
